During the last decade more and more means of communication have become available to the public. People are no longer restricted in their communication by time and place, but can communicate where they want whenever they want through a range of media. At the same time, it seems that communication becomes more and more superficial. People often donít really listen to one another. When someone asks you how you are doing, they donít expect a true answer.
In this project a system was developed that allows spontaneous encounters of close friends. When two friends are in each otherís vicinity, both receive a signal through the object they are carrying along. If they both decide to respond, a kind of ping-pong game comes into being of signals going hence and forth. The time it takes for a signal to reach the other, is an indication of the distance to the other and this way a search can begin.
